  1. Thanks for the suggestions Mercifull. I'll spend some time putting some more color into my sigs and I might post a newer one to see if I made any progress at all. _k0m0d0_: I know your comment was sarcastic and all but I'll treat it like you meant it. I'll be on my way then :)
  2. Well I guess all that I said meant nothing but "crap" to a person who only makes pixel sigs I assume? (not that I'm insulting pixel sigs in anyway, but if you don't do abstract, you shouldn't be the one criticizing) Why are you posting about whether he is better or not? It has absolutely no relevance here and you're just one of those common people jumping on the bandwagon. I don't know how good Mercifull is, I would not doubt for a moment that he was far better because I have little time to do such things, I'm actually not allowed. Maybe that explains why he said it seemed like I spent 5-10 minutes when it seemed like an eternity to me because I had to do part of a background one day, the text another, finish it another day etc.. But what I don't need to hear is from someone who likes to show up other people and thinks he is an all-mighty gfx designer. Mercifull could have put it in a much better way, and I definitely did not gain anything from reading what he wrote except making it look so simple (and maybe it is). So what I did was elaborate on that, it really is how I did it, not some simple copy and pasted premade render. So please, I don't need a sense of animosity from people when commenting on what I've done. Fair enough, I made progress but apparently slow progress from what Mercifull said. Every sig designer has a style, and that's my style so obviously it gets repetitive. Even though Mercifull could have put it in a much better way, it's still a comment to me. I'll see if I can get rid of that boring style and come up with something creative. As for this post, it's quite lengthy but that's only because I have problems loading the page. It takes minutes sometimes for an unknown reason.
  3. Oh and wipe a few abstract brushes on a canvas? How else would you make a background? If you can't "wipe" them over a canvas... how do you suggest I do it then? Oh and I don't make my own brushes because frankly, I don't have the time and I actually don't really know how to do it.
  4. Step 1: It wasn't on a 350 x 120 canvas Step 2: Not a premade render. I watched the anime and made renders from screenshots myself. Only render I took from google was the colt .45. Oh and your "crappy sig" that's what you call it right? You did absolutely nothing to the render. Step 3: Not semi transparent text, it's a dual layer text. Step 4: Probably your most accurate of all, depends on the viewer so in your eyes it's lame. So overall about your sig, you took the premade render from somewhere. You did absolutely nothing to it, you didn't make it look more like a render rather than a grainy image of one. You didn't highlight any parts of it, you just stuck it in there. There also is no blending at all and the colors don't fit. Put some more effort into your so-called "crappy" sig like 10-15min instead of 5-10 and see if you can do better than what you just made. Oh btw, thanks for noticing they are all "oversized". I already stated that in my first post so there is no need to point it out, I didn't make these sigs for these forums so what's the big deal about them being "oversize"?
  5. Quit rs a long time ago but stayed on the forums particularly the media section. I then took a break for a long time but I've been keeping up with sig making so I'll post my most recent ones. :) (these were not made for these forums so the file size is too large) ^ sig I made for a friend ^ did this very quickly to distinguish what side I was on for the jedi/darkside spam wars  ^ sig I made for a friend And that's about it :D
  6. 6 hours render time... but it was well worth it. Very nice job =)
  7. Lol Loth came back recently? Well I just did too, and I've been keeping up with gfx as well (my sig is totally outdated though). Very nice work as usual, I remember you being a speed demon when it came to progress.
  8. This is my first time posting in a while Good to see that nothing much has changed and that you still use terragen. Very nice work as usual =) (I never got the hang of terragen with the landscape part -_-)
  9. Is the character suppose to be like excommunicated and is walking away? Because of it is, I like the concept. I just don't think the colors really match, like the gray and purple. Nice choice of font though :)
  10. oh hey dude!!! Wow, that was a long time ago. You had a mith pure right? And thanks for the comment :)
  11. Well I hope I did a good job making a decent background for a friend. I'm rusty on PS since I haven't done it for a while, but I think my friend was pretty happy and that's just what matters. Well, what do you guys think of it? Everything was made on PS. The spots on the background from the lens flare are not suppose to be there, it's just there because I didn't save an extra lens flare so when I went back to redo it and host it, I forgot to smudge out those parts so ignore them :P
  12. bump. Im making a birthday card for a friend, and a little annoyance is that there is suppose to be a highlight option (i think this is the cause for the effect) to make a certain area brighter with a brush. Is there an alternative?
  13. I'm trying to follow a tut for PS, but I'm not sure what version the author used. In his brush menu, he has 2 boxes named Range and Exposure. He selected 'highlights' for range. What is the equivalent for range and exposure on PS 7? Is it similar to Mode and opacity?
  14. I think your first is definitely the best, good work there. I love how you mixed abstract and realistic objects together.
  15. Try good-tutorials.com. Find something cool, try it out, and build on that ;). It's an okay start, try making the text more readable as shadow said.
  16. Interesting how the name "blue peace" suggests a more calm, pacifying sig... but blue and orange-brown are clashing colors. You could try making the red background have more definitive shapes, rather than just loops. Like make circles instead perhaps?
  17. Your background sort of looks like faded crystals or something, and because of that, the text matches it great. It's "soft" and the gradient on the text matches nicely. Simple but better than many of the sigs where people put too much junk into it.
  18. Yeah, if i look from it far away, the sig border looks bumpy. I guess transparent borders don't work as well here. But nice bg, good luck selling ;).
  19. That's better shading than i can do by hand... nice job :D
  20. 10/10, amazing pixel job. I love your work.
  21. Haha nice turtles, great smile they have :). 9/10
  22. Your sig reminds me of christmas. Would be better if text was centered :P 7/10
  23. Nice sig. You should make an avatar with those 2 guys zapping each other
