hammer
I've been told different things by different people, so i'd like to find out the truth. What is the best way to train smithing? I'm lvl 60 smithing and am not sure whether steel plates or gold ores are the way to go. I'm not at all rich, so what do you guys think? I've got close to 500k saved at the moment i want to use on smithing. Thanks.
FastForce
Gold ores with gaunts for max xp/hr if you're seriously rich. Else go with steel plates or cannon balls for profit. Road To Trimmed Completionist
IGotGrapes
Just so I can be sure I understand this, steel pl8s = 5 bars, 5 bars = 3k. you resale the pl8s at 1k, losing 2k per pl8? that doesn't sound good at all.

transcript80
If you buy materials: Iron: smelting into bars with ring of forging, then make iron knives breaks you even or beter. Not VERY fast, thouh Steel: smelt bars and make cannon balls -> profit You'll lose money on gold, mithril and up. If you mine your materials: GOLD! Use the Arzinian mines with the gold helmet and a ring of Charos (a) to mine lots of gold, then smelt the ores with the goldsmithing gloves from the family crest quest. Iron: same as above, almost pure profit. Steel: make bars, smith into plates. Fast XP, you still make some money, but obviously less then when you would have sold the bars. Smelt cannon balls for XP but it is WAY slower. Mith and up: slow XP, you won't make a lot of cash. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
