Keiphus
Ehh.. didn't really get around to the ice thing.... made a new model for it but didn't set it up so I can't show you... don't feel like messing with it... Not much happening here at work with the holidays, so I basically just come in every day and play with everything... This here was just me being bored and messing around with some lighting and reflections, along with a simple model I made of some lipstick (don't ask). What's wrong with it, what could make it better, and what do you think about it? I did a little bit of post work in PS, nothing really major, just had a few irregular bends in the model that I didn't see until after I rendered, so I fixed them... Uhh... I think that's about it... I'll show the new ice sometime too... Unfortunately for me, I suck at modeling. :-?
Jlr
that looks sweet man, i really like it, but just one problem the lipstick is pink but on the lid for it, it has essence of purple, i just think it should be a bit more pink. Also the lip stick standing up seems out of perportion, it looks a little awkward near the top as if its getting wider or something. anyway great job, Jlr

The color is off because I messed it up. I do need to fix that. In the render it is the correct color, but I was color correcting in photoshop and I messed it up without noticing I guess. I'm looking here at the render and it's fine. Thanks for noticing that ;) One of the things I did notice is that I forgot to render the shadow pass. I'll do that later... I just don't feel like opening this back up... I really need to work on my modeling, any suggestions?
ColAvanor
I'd say (and no, I have never modeled a thing) that the material is off. A lipstick (and no, I have never used one) case looks black all the way except some thin bright highlights. Yours is overall grey. Too light for my taste. I'd go for a more metallic material choice. Your current seems like some second grade plastic and they don't use that for lipsticks. It's late, hope you catch my drift.
Keiphus
Yeah.... I think maybe the lipstick might be too reflective? I dunno.. alot of the stuff I saw on google was kinda shiny, but then again, I'm a noob at all of this so nothing's going to be spectacular... I'll try and make it a bit darker and lose some reflectivity.. that might help. Right now it IS black, but since I have so many lights (about 6) it is fading the black into gray... I'll figure it out sooner or later, things like this just help me better learn the program. Thanks for the crits.. :)
