Is RuneScape getting too large?

Featured Replies

are you crazy? why wouldnt they want to be making the game better so ppl would continue to play and they would continue to get new members :shame:

if you try and are not successful you are not trying hard enough

I am running on an old dell dimension 2400 (about 5-6 years old) and it takes about 5 seconds to load runescape. The loading time is based mostly on your internet connection (I am running mid-speed cable). It is not the game itself. As I recall JAGeX is the master of compression technology, the game is actually quite small thanks to this (compared to eve online or WoW that can take several minutes to load), and as such has a fast load time (I actually recall Andrew gower saying in an old interview that rs classic's compression was so good that you could fit all the required files on a floppy disk.

So to break it down:

-it isn't a problem on the games end

-chances are most long load times are thanks to a slow internet connection
