could I kill black dragons using the same strategy I use for killing metal dragons or is it at all different

What way do you kill metal dragons?

What works on metald ragons, works on black ones too. You can either safespot-range them or melee them with prayer. If you are going to range, I suppose you know to use a one-handed weapon so you can wear your antifire shild. Meleeing with metal armor and food instead of prayer is not recommended (it is doable, but you'll have to leave pretty often to replenish your food supplies).
