Tank Ranger?

Traditionally, "tank" characters were those that can withstand a huge amount of attacks while not taking much damage themselves. Any tank character would have an incredibly high defense against all types of attacks -- melee, magic and range -- and have a high hitpoint count to last a long time under constant bombardment.

Yes, that is what a tank is. What you're suggesting is a range pure. Tanks are bases off real life tanks, very high defense and hitpoints to take the damage.

Edit: Off-topic: I have a druid tank. Diablo 2 anyone? :D
