I just found out a great tip tip....which I am sure most normal folks already knew. But for all the dense ones like me out there....I was doing all my work in 72 dpi...that is why it was so sloppy. My latest I accidentally did at 200 dpi since I scanned it and I had more control and more color vibrancy...two things I wanted for my work. I still have to watch the soft brushes, but it is much better for prints etc. too.

If you're doing only digital-output, 72 DPI will suffice..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you're scanning/printing though, yeah, crank it up to 200-300 dpi..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, having a higher DPI on a digital-oriented peice is the same as making it larger. So, just make it larger and then scale it down, if that's what you want to do..

I can't remember the last time I did anything under 300dpi.... Haha...

Yeah if my ram can handle it I am going to try 4k by 4k at 300 resolution, just to do one of those big prints at da :)

4K by 4K @ 300res is a bit repetitive... The way you get the 4K by 4K is by multiplying the 300res by whatever size you decide to make the print, in inches. For instance, if I'm printing a flyer for a company, I'll make it 8.5x11 at 300dpi (print quality resolution). The resulting canvas will then be somewhere along the lines of 2550x3300. Alot of people don't really understand resolution and it's uses and why it works how it does, etc blah blah blah...
