If I don't visit Miscellenia for a week and then come back will my popularity have dropped or will it stay the same? What if I have lots of people working? Does making your citizens gather resources lower your popularity? Your approval rating drops 1% every day until a low of 25% if you don't kill any citizens or steal from the markets (which lowers your popularity). And no they don't lower your [popularity no matter how much you over-work them \ .
