August 3, 200718 yr Hi. Recently I've been getting into the game Far Cry through gametap. The game has been working good for a while until I hit a certain part of the game. Now whenever I try to load a saved game it will get to the end of the loading bar and windows will force a restart. When it pops back up it says that windows has ocoured a serious error. I had a copy of the text the accompanied it but I lost the copy and really don't feel like redoing the crash. Every other game I have works just fine, its only Far Cry. It is really aggravating me because I want to play the game. :( My specs are: 7900 GS Intel 2 duo core 1.8 ghz 2GB corsair ram 650i Motherboard The only thread I have found on this issue would be: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1008143 But I tried what he did (compatibility mode) and it didn't help anything. ps: If there is any other info you need please tell me. edit: updated info! August 3, 200718 yr Author Small update but I am downloading the "Debugging tools for windows" to see what was in the contents of the Memdump. edit: Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information. BugCheck 7F, {0, 0, 0, 0} Unable to load image RtkHDAud.sys, Win32 error 2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for RtkHDAud.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for RtkHDAud.sys Probably caused by : RtkHDAud.sys ( RtkHDAud+a5775 ) Followup: MachineOwner ---------------------------- ******************************************************************************* * * * Bugcheck Analysis * * * ******************************************************************************* UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f) This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc) Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes: If kv shows a taskGate use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv. Else if kv shows a trapframe use .trap on that value Else .trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken (on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap) Endif kb will then show the corrected stack. It looks like it is possibly a problem with the onboard sound card, Realatek? :-k Its still odd though, the game was working for a while.... double edit: I am now downloading updated audio drivers to see if it will make a difference. I'll come back with results in a few! Triple edit: Downloaded new drivers, did the same thing again -- same error. This is really making me angry.
August 3, 200718 yr Author I think a reinstall worked. I had to start all over again but I wasn't very far in the game.
August 4, 200718 yr Author Find out soon enough wont we :P So far no problem. I'm already past where I was. Man, I can't believe I never got this game earlier, it's amazing.
