Autocast Normal Magic while on Lunar/Ancients Spellbook?

Is it possible (when using a fire, air etc. staff) to autocast a modern magic spell such as fire blast while I am on a Lunar or Ancients Spellbook? Will I still be able to mage with fire blast and use other spells such as NPC Contact?

 

 

 

I want to see if it's possible to get slayer exp on metal dragons while I fire blast there for 99 magic (after my 100,000 alchs I have to do while I'm f2p :ohnoes: ).
