Randox
I'm getting a new laptop, possibly tomarow. I figured id post the specs for the one I think i'll get to make sure there were no problems I missed. - 1.66GHz Intel Centrino Duo processor T5450(2MB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB) - 2GB DDR2 SDRAM - 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS with up to 895MB total graphics memory with 128MB dedicated - Intel PRO wireless 4965AGN Network connection and bluetooth - LightScribe Super Multi 8x DVD +/- R/RW with double layer support Thats really all the stuff im worried about. I don't plan on running any high end games with this. The other laptops there that had higher speed prccesors (most 1.9 or 2 GHz) only had 1GB ram and that seems barly enough to run Vista. blade995
Well I see nothing wrong with it. It will run all games on at least low settings. Don't expect too much better than low, but it will run them. Very good choice going with 2GB of ram.
Randox
Glad to have some assurance that the components are appropriate for each other. I still wonder about the graphics card. From what I can tell it had the best card of any laptop in the price range (1,100$ CDN). But if someone could give me a comparison to something I'm familiar with, say a Radeon Excalibur 9200 or Radeon Excalibur 9200 PRO. Just in terms of any major compatibility issues if nothing else. EDIT: I took a look at the laptops graphic card specs. It mostly seems to be better than the radeon, which I guess I expect considering how old that radeon model is (though it was state of the art for a year when it was developed). mikercool
If you get XP you can go with 1GB, if you want to run Vista as good as possible get the most RAM they will give you.
Doomster
The 8400 is bottom end DX10, but aces a Radeon 9200 no trouble. It's low by current standards though, very low, but better than pretty much any onboard. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=157593 Just about sums it up. New releases will struggle badly.
