Merchant or Mine? F2P Money

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new as you can tell by my post account... currently 1 lol. I was wondering what I should do, and I have a few questions.

1. Should I mine iron or coal? I want both Exp and the money. I only want to mine. My Goal is to mine Rune ore. Is Rune ore a Hassle to get in f2p? Is it very slow at 85 mining? How Slow per Ore?

2. Should I Merchant? I currently have 515K, I don't know what I should Merchant. In my opinion it's not easy to find some noobs that will get you Cow Hides at 50 - 100gp each. If I buy 2k Cow Hides that will take a long time to tan them right? How long will it take to tan them? I'm starting to think I can get more Mining Coal and Iron then Selling the 2k Cow Hides per hour or 2. I can try to Merchant Lobbies but I'm not really sure if that'll work very well.

3. What's a very good thing to Merchant in F2P that will use up 500K - 1M?

I really need some help with this because it has been ticking me off for some time lol.

Thank you,

Here is my opinion on what you should do:

If you want exp more than money but you want money now:

Mine coal in the Mining Guild and sell for 180-200 each.

If you want exp more than money and are willing to wait for the money:

Power-mine iron to 85 mining, then mine runite.

If you want money more than exp:

I suggest merchanting coal. Buy it for 175-185 in-game, then browse the RSOF to find a member buying a bunch of coal for 200 each. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Welcome to Tip.It!

perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is another

AMEN!

1. Rune mining isn't hard if you know what you're doing, and it doesn't take very long to actually get the ore from the rock. When I was 85 mining the time it took to mine one rune ore was about equal to the time it took me to mine one addy ore. Finding rune rocks that still have the ore can be tough, as there are only two f2p rocks in the entire game.

For both xp and money, I personally prefer mining iron in varrock west mine, since its much quicker, but you could also do coal in the guild, though often times its crowded and I find coal annoying. If you want to mine rune, the quickest way would be to power mine iron in al kharid. Mining the rune itself isn't too bad, once you get into the rhythm of world hopping and avoiding pkers, you can get over 200k an hour, depending on the amount of other people around.

Rune mining in f2p sucks.

Totally not worth it.

EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it.

well if your really a hard working person..

buy 2k coal for 180-200 each

and 1k iron ore for 50-100 ea

then smith into steel bars.. makes alot of profit and xp.

but if you want merchanting. in f2p wizard trim and gold trim robes are good for merchanting. and yews are great too buy them for 300-350 ea and ask some member friend to buy it off you for 360-380 ea they sell more in mems
