Despaxes, I promise I will give you some C&C later and hopefully Nad will to- I'm just kind of busy right now and only tacking a quick glance at the forums, but it does look like a great improvement on your previous render.

I'll give you some C&C when i get back in like 10minutes... i can say though that they are a major improvement over your others, although the new one needs alot of work , which i'll get into more details. I'm hoping you know the way terragen works, so when i do give you C&C i will be slightly more technical.

Ok... now for the C&C:

Your old one first, the snow covered one with the pink sky-

I'll start with the atmosphere. Ok, for a beginner the atmosphere isn't bad. I can see you tweaked it, but it still is fairly basic to many standards. For one, the clouds arn't that great. Try maybe turning them on "3d" mode, sometimes it makes a world of difference.

I'm going to spend a while on your surface maps as a whole for all of these... for one, you don't take much into account for realisim. take for example the snow one. For one, its very random. i realy don't think you even went into the Slope and Altitude settings, and probaly did little with the parrent / child layers, as far as actualy using them right.

Also, with the snow, try getting it so it is on the top's of the mountains, maybe the bottom, and have rock lining around the side, with the random very little bit of snow.

Also, make your snow seem more... soft. Don't make your snow very bumpy, because than it just looks bad, or just like white crap everywhere.

Now onto the island one you did, i don't like this one very much at all. The surface map is also very basic, very random, and you again don't pay attention to realisim. In reality there would most likly be a beach lining around the island, slowly sloping into the sea. Right now you just have this big drop off that doesn't look very good at all. Also the just lone island in the middle of the water isn't that great of a scene to do... especialy if you can't do beaches yet.

The atmosphere in this one is also decent, but the clouds ruin any chance of it looking very realistic.

finaly the one with the blue atmosphere i'm not a fan of either. you have the atmosphere down fine on this one (the sun setting kind of thing is nice, and the blue haze fits the wintery theme) but the terrain is very basic, and same as the surface map. also the water doesn't seem enough like the icey look you were trying to get at, especialy with that cold of a landscape, judging by your atmosphere of course.

anyways... thats my C&C. at least i didn't have to write a newbies guide to terragen...
