First of all I would like to say i think the articles posted by these two are good articles about a beginners troubles when starting runescape. But i think that goals are perfectly fine things, as long as they don't take over all of your time. (even if you want it to)

I think that runescape can get very boring and repetitive, but I think I have devised some rules that I have found out to keep it less boring and repetitive.

1. Play less

When I first started my mother only allowed me to play one hour a day, and played I did. Since i only was allowed one hour a day I valued my time on runescape much more and it got boring for me much slower. Sure I didn't have the ability to play for hours on end to get high skills in everything but I think I had more fun when I was on. Now my mother has been allowing two hours a day and I am finding I am getting bored quicker even though i am getting better in almost all skills.

2. Get good runescape friends

Yes I know this is almost impossible to get long lasting friends on runescape but I think it is one of the most important thing to do to make runescape more fun. If you are bored ask one of you friends to do something with you, anything. you would be surprised how much more fun doing some of the most boring things are with a good friend or two doing it right along with you. I have had several really good friends for my almost four year runescape career(not that long I guess :( ). I think one of the easyest ways to get good long lasting runescape friends is to get some real life friends to play it with you, the advantages of this is that you can coordinate when you are and aren't on, can discuss what you want to do of of runescape, which makes it much easier to do stuff together, and you also will have that much more stuff to talk about anyway.

3. Take some breaks

This I think is the most important thing about playing runescape, even with my only one (now two) hours per day I think about twice a year(even though there is a lot of stuff to do) I would get really burnt out from runescape and start feeling kind of depressed when I was playing on runescape. So i would take a good long break. I would just stop playing runescape for a month or two. I would spend my game time on some games I would buy, go over to my friends house, or just read a good book.(yes.... i like to read) But I knew that once I got bored of all these things runescape would definitely be waiting for me, along with a bunch of new updates. :)

ps... first post.... but have been reading the forums for years
