Pros/Cons: Prayer on Range Pure?

I've currently got a lvl50 ranger with 1 in all other combat stats. I wish to hear some pros & cons of gaining Prayer levels on it. What is a good level to be at? Should I not train it and keep it Range pure?

 

 

 

Note: I won't be staker or pking, just incase you guys need to know to fact that in.

Pros: Range accuracy prayers + Protection Prayers

 

 

 

Cons: A few combat levels

 

 

 

 

 

On the whole i would recommend getting Prayer to about 50 or even with your current range, But in the end its totally up to you.

I use 44 prayer on my pure. Gives me the prot. prayers, AND eagle eye, which is +15% bonus, at 70 range, range pot, and +15% bonus, I smack 18s with rune arrows and MSB.

 

 

 

Pros : Higher hits, protection prayers

 

Cons : Some combat levels

 

 

 

 

 

Overall, I think if your going to be getting a VERY high range level (70+) it is TOTALLY worth it.

If you are not staking or pking then it is really just a question of whether you want the luxury of prayer or not. It makes things easier but raises your cb lvl. If you are not staking or pking then your cb lvl does not need to be controlled. I don't see why not raise it except that it is the most annoying skill to train since it is so slow.

if you aRE NOT stakign or pking, then go for it, it helps with the ranged pray at 44, but if your not doing pvp, it raises the question, why make ap ure in the first place?

As has been pointed out in numerous threads, leveling range into the 90s will be extremely slow if I choose to do it using traditional methods (knives and arrows).

 

 

 

If I level prayer to at least 43, I can do chin training and greatly speed up my leveling.

 

 

 

A lot of people say that 52 prayer is desirable for pking (and it is my primary objective to create a decent pker).

 

 

 

I would hate to spend hours upon hours leveling range with my prayer at 1 and then suddenly decide, "G, I think I'll get 52 prayer for smite now that my range is 90".

I got from 30 Prayer to 58 VERY easily

 

Do the quest Merlin's Crystal (i think that's the one) it has 10k Prayer EXP

 

Spend a few 100k on Dragon bones and hop over to the ectofunctis

 

Grind all bones

 

Collect all ecto plasm

 

Withdraw 13 Grinded boned + 13 Ecto Plasm + ecto tele

 

Ecto teleport then refill

 

worship the ectofunctis 13 times

 

Collect tickets

 

Run to bank

 

Repeat.

NO! I would definitely say no. If you have already made such a great pure then don't raise its lvls a ton by getting prayer. You could really make a fortune in Duel Arena. With no prayer duel arena would really be the way to go. Pk w/o prayer can be a bit hard when facing prays but I think the extra hits for the lvls is worth it. My main is 52 pray 81 range and I wish I had kept pray at one, which I did with a pure so I have both. =P
