Help on a f2p tanker

Featured Replies

hello. I'm new to runescape and tip.it though i have been reading tip.it guides for about a week to help me understand runescape more (my friend explained quite a bit to me).

I have decided to make a tanker. since i am new to runescape and am unsure wether i will like it, i have decided to keep it f2p. i have had some touble understand some things about tanks

1. How do you train def? with range or after beating dragon slayer?

2. Should i get some meele stats? if so, how high?

3. what Quests should i do?

I have a good idea where to train and my friend donated 2k iron arrows and a bunch of other sets of d hide, robes, 500 lobs, 60k and enough to get me started.

Any help would be appreciated. PM's, replys or talk on runescape would be fine

Feel free to add me on msn, aim, runescape or whatever you like.

you can range def and range at the same time but the defence is split, use the long range option.

tanks should really only have defence prayer mage and range so i maybe wouldnt train attack and strength. You cant really help training hitpoints

i was told that this is what you should do after you have around 40range because you will hit higher. with 1 range, having the xp split is a bad idea (or so i've been told).

If you're new to runescape, just make a main. try everything. Later, you can decide to make "pures" or characters that specialize in certain stats.

I am a ranger. Your best bet is to make it like a pure until about 40 range and if you decide you still want a tank then split with long range then. Usually tanks are for duel arena so I would say don't train pray and getting hp is good if you want to train atk str or mage. You would prally become a staker so keep str lower than 40.

If you want to become a member afterwards, then don't train your defence. You should only get defence by doing quests if you're going to be a rune pure (archer with 40 or 45 defence). There are tanks with 70 defence for barrow armor in members and they're pretty good after a certain level. But still it's better to do the quests first and then train to 70 defence. After all it's nice when you can use barrow gloves and stuff from quests.

If you're going to stay non-member then you can do dragon slayer and get defence experience, this will put you somewhere around 35 defence, not sure. Keep training defence afterwards till 40 if you want to higher defence then that's up to you... But I don't recommend it.

Prayer, well if you're going to pk in members 52 could be useful, when you're planning to stake keep it at 1. In non-members it can help, if you want it or not that's also up to you.

Melee stats, well in members tanks don't really need those. The ranged weapons have a ability to knock out other players. You can always train magic to support your ranged, do this by using high-alchemy or if you want hitpoint experience with fire bolt and chaos gaunlets.

In non-members the best thing is to get 40-60 attack and a high strength for knocking out your opponent. Don't get the 60 attack before 65 combat.

I hope this helps you, and you can always message me in game, add Aegis titan, my pure. And goodluck with your training. (I've written some things about members, just in case you change your mind.)
