D. V. Devnull
Do you play any other multiplayer games? If so, what are your results with them? :-s If not, then so far, I can only assume that your new ISP doesn't like gaming and the kind of connection it requires, which has to have an instant response constantly. :( Heck, I found with an item called "Stick Arena" by XGenStudios that you have to run that on such a link for it to perform reasonably. Heck, try that game and let me know how things turn out. If you have more of the same, then problem solved and you need yet another new ISP. -.- If not, then what browser are you on? IE? FireFox? Opera? Try a different one for a short while with RuneScape, maybe? :? I'll wait for ya answer. ~Mr. D. V. grimmm125
hi here are my computers spec's hi these r my computers specifications microsoft windowns xp (no service pack 2) proffesional intel ® pentium ® 4 cpu 2.00 ghz 256 mb of ram i recently changed from low speed broadband with dodo to high speed broadband wtith gotalk. when i was with dodo my internet was slow but i never lagged on runescape unless dad was downloading somthing. with my new internet browsing is extremly fast and i can download vidoes in minutes! but runescape skips and laggs like all hell and i dont know what the problem is, its never happened before. speedtest results download: 311 kb/s upload: 104 kb/s ping 103 ms (seems kinda low?) is it because i dont have enough ram or because i have a virus or somthing? ive scanned for virus and spyware and nothing shows up. i reformated comp and im wondering if i should get service pack 2. does anyone have any idea what the problem could possibly be? pm me or post here i realy need this help thanks bye
JoeDaStudd
Ok, first off install SP2 and all the other updates. SP2 has a lot of security's features which you will need, eg windows firewall. 256mb is a low amount for XP, even an upgrade to 512mb (costs about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã8 or $15 to do) will improve the general performance massively. The speed test results you posted aren't that amazing, having said that they are more then enough for RuneScape. Do you have any AntiVirus/Spyware software on the PC? If not download AVG Free, Ad-Aware 2007 and Spybot search and destroy. D. V. Devnull
Okay, grimmm125, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I was hoping you'd respond to your own thread so I would not end up hitting my sentbox limit again. Anywho, having seen the following PM which you sent to me, and I need to make public due to the thread's discussion... helllo tyvm for ur reply, that game works perfectly fine and im using opera and ie 6. any ideaS? tyvm ... along with your second post in this thread, and JoeDaStudd's reply to your post, here are my thoughts.......... JoeDaStudd's note of getting more RAM is a VERY good idea. Make sure you do this, grimmm125. Also let us know in this thread what your results are with SpyBot S&D, which he also recommended. Only get XP SP2 if you DON'T have apps that won't work with it. (Microsoft was a bit of a [bleep]er with SP2's design.) Also, finally, if you're going to try AVG Free and scan with it, you have to disable CoMoDo AntiVirus from running while AVG is active, and vice versa. Period. No Exceptions. Just make sure that AVG does not touch CoMoDo AntiVirus's quarantine hold. Nightmares would ensue otherwise. (Personally, I'd recommend the top-of-the-line NOD32 for this, even though the same rules would apply, but oh well.) BTW, if nothing else works, call your ISP and verbally rip their heads off. Personally, however, I would make this the first step, as it might be all you need. It STILL sounds to me like they're 'bork-bork-borking' RuneScape, which I really have a distaste for. On the side: Sorry it's a bit messy, but i've merged these two related threads. Assassin_696, thank you for merging the threads and correcting a severe problem. This helped a lot in helping grimmm125 with their computer. :D ~Mr. D. V. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people...
