iloci Posted October 27, 2007 Share Posted October 27, 2007 is 40%-50% cpu usage normal on a dual core AMD Athlon 64 dual core processor 4200+ 2.20 ghz and is there any way to lower it? and My fire wall was turned off for about half a day and my computer got swarmed with spyway, its been running slower and i can hear noises from inside it. is there any free anti spyware software anyone would recommend to delete and prevent it? thanks Loc Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You did not tell us what you were doing when your usage was like this. If your computer was idle when it was using 50% then thats not normal, but if you had programs open or were playing a game it could be very normal. For the virus/spyware programs above, they are all good but please note that hijackthis is not an automatic spyware remover and you have to check what you want to remove manually.
