...take out a piece of an image in photoshop? For example, if I wanted to take a 300 by 100 piece out of a 500 by 250, meaning I'll be using the 300 by 100 and would like to disguard the rest of the image. Please go through all the steps specifically because I'm such a Photoshop newb. Also, when I download different brushes, where do I unzip the files to.

Please if you know the answers to my question(s), reply. I will be so happy. :D

For your first question, you're going to want to go to the tool bar and click the rectangular marquee tool in the upper left. Next, go to the top of the screen and click the box labelled "Style." Set it as fixed size, set your dementions, and click anywhere on the image.

For your second question, here's what I do. Go to Window>Brushes. Then click the arrow on the upper right, next to brushes, and find Load Brushes... Browse for your brushes and load them.
