I wouldn't suggest black drags for visage hunting. You are better off ranging irons with rune xbow emerald (e) bolts at 80ish range.

There is no safespot for metal drags, because their fireballs have a longer range than firebreath. You can use anti-firebreath potion in coordinance with anti-dragon sheild to nullify it however, but you need to use a crossbow... if it matters.
