April 20, 200521 yr K, the other day I opended FireFox and all my Internet History, Bookmarks etc. had gone! I tried to do many things to get them back like change profiles, but i only had one profile "Default" so the only way i could get them back is to System restore, but now i have just logged into FireFox and the same has happend! Anyone know why? :? I don't wanna be forced to use IE Again
April 20, 200521 yr First off, check the settings by doing the following in FireFox: Tools > Options It should open the "Privacy" section. Check each and everyone of the types (Cookies, Cache, etc.) and set them on the desired setting (such as 99 days). This will ensure that the information is kept there for the maximum amount of time.
April 20, 200521 yr That's a known issue unfortunately. It often happens if you turn your pc off at the switch without shutting it down, or there's a blackout or something. Create a new profile (Start -> Run -> Firefox[Caution: ExecutableFile] -profilemanager) and start from scratch. I suggest you install the Bookmark backup extension. It automatically backs up important files in your profile (bookmarks, saved passwords, cookies, history, preferences) up to a week in the past so that should an error such as you've experienced occur, you can simply revert to the backed up files. Sorry about this mate, you can bet the devs are working hard to fix the issue. Where the bloody hell are you?
April 20, 200521 yr If you scan with adaware and remove all the neglible(sp?) objects, i think it deletes your internet history. Probably not your problem though.

I don't see why you would lose all settings just from not shutting down the program properly? Well unless the link between the data and the profile gets messed up. I'm sure that the bookmarks are still stored somewhere on your computer though.
April 21, 200521 yr Author Ok, Cheers Guys! I am guility of switching PC off by the wall so thats my post my problem and my fault.

I'm sure that the bookmarks are still stored somewhere on your computer though.Bookmarks are stored in (for windows XP) C:\Documents and Settings\%username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\8dgtrndm.Yourname\bookmarks.html cookies in cookies.txt, etc. The files sometimes get corrupted if you turn your pc off at the plug. I don't understand why they don't just get it to make a backup each time you start it or something, but I daresay that's in the pipeline somewhere. Where the bloody hell are you?
