Can anyone teach me how to type Russian the online way?

Featured Replies

I know how to type Russian, in Russian characters. But I need to know how to translate them so I can understand on RS and such. Thanks a ton to anyone who can help me. You can PM me rather than post it if you'd like to do that. Posting it is fine too, though.

I'm assuming you mean transliterating Cyrillic into roman characters. Unfortunetly, there is no standard for transcribing Russian, there are at least three accepted methods, and that's just in english. Check here for an example of the romanization.

That helps a quite a lot. Though, in RuneScape I've seen Russian typed with numbers included with uh... How do I say it, I don't know but I think its characters? The consonants and vowels... Anyway, I've seen it typed with numbers included.

Diacritical marks maybe? Like ÃÆÃâÃâè, ÃÆÃâÃâé, ÃÆÃâÃâê, ÃÆÃâÃâë, ÃÆÃâÃâñ? It would be interesting to see what characters in the extended unicode set jagex has allowed, though in order to enter any that aren't built into your keyboard, you'll need to come up with a way of keymapping, or get an onscreen keyboard thing going. I'd love to see if you could get cyrillic in there.

No no... Like this for example, "8ladibost9k" which I'm guessing means Vladivostok, a city in Russia. I've seen that typed in RS. I'm guessing they use numbers as pronounciation keys or something... If anyone is able to speak Russian in RS, please PM me. I'm dying to know how.

heh heh.. 1337 russian..

Perhaps it was not Russian then? Do you know of any other languages that might be able to substitute letters with numbers? Maybe Chinese, Vietnamiese, ect?

Personally, I rarely speak with any russians ingame...but when i do i just type out how the words sound in english letters.

Wait is this a joke? You thought that 1337 was russian? You even used 1337 speak in your name and sig! If this is so can you answer me just one question because you seem a little slow. HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET SO DUMB?

I know what 1337 is moron, "1m n07 57up1d 3n0ugh 2 us3 1337 1n my s1g 4nd n07 kn0w wh47 17 15" ect. I'm saying people have had FULL conversations completely with numbers and letters in conjunction with one another. I don't know if its Russian for sure, but I was assuming so because I had seen "8ladibostok" in a conversation. It may be Chinese or Arabic also, since there is really no substitute for those in English type. I was guessing the 8 would be used for pronounciation or something of the like.

pm me if u need help, I speak somewhat fluent russian.
