IGoddessI
You friend is an attention [bleep]. If he wanted to really kill himself, he'd have done so by now. What a crock of [cabbage]. Biologically speaking, when hypomania triggers in on top of extremely low serotonin levels, suicide is extremely common. -- Your friend is in hospital now, he or she is in the safest hands available and there isn't anything you can do for them at the moment other than be there for them when they get out. Usually in a hospitalisation, it's due to an extreme hypomania trigger. Once it settles and the neurotransmitters go back to neutral, serotonin levels are safe, she will be okay. It can relapse though :( In this circumstance there are mood stabilisers that are available that minimise the symptoms. Have they been diagnosed with any mental illnesses? If so what medication do they use? I know you said you don't want to give out anymore information than you have to but if you're asking for help, I need circumstances. Do you know if they have taken any psycho active drugs relatively, recently? The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
