December 19, 200718 yr This may not be immediately helpful to you now, but once you get your first set of sextant and watch, you can build up a bank inventory of sextants and watches to reduce replacement time if you lose them on a trail. You need craft level 23 for a sextant, 28 for a watch, steel bars, and a crafting table #4 (construction level 42) in your workshop. I haven't tried this step, but I suppose you could build up a stock of replacement charts by dropping the ones the professor gives you onto the floor and asking for replacements until you have a nice pile on the floor to pick up and stick in the bank.
