Introduction

Hey guys, I am L E A V E1. I started runescape on easter of 05, and didn't get a chicken . I began to learn the game and I think by now I understand most aspects of it. I fell in love with barrows in 06, when I got my first item (Arhims Top) after only 5 runs. I sold it for 800k, my peak money at the time, and of course I wanted more. I learned better and more cost efficient methods. I recently got 55 slayer, a Kharyl Portal in my POH, and some new armour, and I am ready to go.

NOTE: I spend less than 10k a run now. This brings in major profits for me, making me want to barrow more.

59 Magic (If Using Fire Blast)

60+ Defence

60+ Ranged

Okay guys, welcome. I will go through the basics here, and you guys can head to barrows. Here is what you should wear. (NOTE: This is what I wear, something similar is fine.)

barrowsarmouroa7.png

Helmet - Farseer Helmet > Mystic Hat (Farseer will give you a defence bonus if you plan on using slayer dart. This is very good, and is highly recomended.)

Cape - God Cape > Obby Cape > Legends Cape (It doesn't matter much, but mage bonus is big.)

Amulet - Amulet of Fury > Amulet of Glory > Magic Amulet (Of course, a fury is a good idea if you want to risk 5m.)

Arrows - Rune > Addy (For taking on Arhim. It doesn't matter much.)

Staff - (Something that autocasts your spell.)

Top - Arhims Robetop > Mystic Top (Arhims gives a better mage bonus, but it doesn't matter much.

Shield - God Book > Obby Shield > Rune Kiteshield (I recommend the God Book VERY much. The brothers WILL drain your prayer, and this gives a +5 boost.)

Bottom - Arhims Robebottom > Mystic Bottom (Seriously, mage bonus is huge, but whatever you can afford is great.)

Gloves - (Mage Bonus)

Feet - (Mage Bonus)

Ring - (Ring of Wealth does NOT increase the chance of a barrows item. Rings of Life will tele you out of the tomb, and they are not recommended at all if you want to finish a trip.)

Your Inventory

invocs4.png

Teleportation - Home Teleports are good if you want to teleport to your house and use your portal to get back. Otherwise, Varrock is fine.

Casting Runes - Whatever spell you are casting (Slayer Dart, or Fire Blast), bring the runes.

Spade - You need this to do the minigame. Just make sure you bring it.

Rune Armour - Needed if you are casting Slayer Dart. Otherwise, it will only be used for kill count in the tunnel. (Veraks, or another melee barrows armour can be used in its place).

Magic Shortbow - For killing Arhim. Crystal Bow and Karils Crossbow are common replacements.

Abyssal Whip - Dragon Scimitar or Dragon Longsword work too. Only needed for the tunnel.

Prayer Potions - Amount may vary between methods. Slayer Dart uses about 2-3 doses a run. Fire Blast uses about 12-16.

Ranged Enhancing Armour - D Hide or Karils. Whatever you prefer.

Food - Anything that heals above 12 is fine.

NOTE: Always recharge your prayer before you come.

Taking on the Brothers

I will not explain how to get to barrows. You pretty much go behind the Canifis bar, or run through the swamp.

Now that you are prepared and ready to go, you might want to get familiar with the game. There are 6 mounds. Each mound lies his bed. When you click on it, the brother will either come out and attack you, or it will be your tunnel. You will just skip over this mound as it is not useful until you have defeated all of the 5 other brothers. There is 1 tunnel every round. The mounds are set up like so.

barrows_map.png

Dharok - Now, make sure you have full prayer, and head to Dharok's tomb. Dig and turn on your protect from melee prayer. Click the tomb and out comes Dharok. He is fairly easy, but should be prayed against AT ALL TIMES. Once Dharok is dead, go up the stairs, as your prayer is drained when you stay in the crypts.

Verac - Now head to Verac's tomb. (If you are using fire blast, from now on you need to keep your prayer on. Have it on against all the brothers, and just fire blast them to death.) (The following will bne related to Slayer Dart Method.) Dig and head into his crypt. Click the tomb, using the rest of your melee prayer, and put on your rune armour if it runs out to finish him off. Verac can hit through prayer, so eat when necessary.

NOTE: Slayer Dart is effected by mage bonus, but since the barrow's brothers have poor magic defence, you can use rune armour or whatever you brought for the melee defence bonus to defeat them.

Torag - Torag is one of the easier brothers. Dig into the crypt and finish him off with no prayer, and your rune armour equipted. Eat if necessary.

Guthan - Approach guthan just like you did torag. If the battle happens to long on, and you are under 8 food, drink some prayer potion and protect to finish him off. Guthan can hit himself if he uses his special, which can make for a longer fight.

Karil - Put on your mage boosting armour, drink some prayer potion and dig. Use protect from range and slayer dart karil. Karil has low magic defence for some reason, the reason for slayer dart. If you need 2 sips of prayer potion, or you think you can finish him with rune armour on, do so.

Ahrim - Put on your range gear, your magic shortbow, and get your special ready. if you have remaining prayer, use protect from mage. Click the tomb and out comes ahrim! Eat when necessary, and it shouldn't make for a long battle.

The Tunnel - Approach all of the brothers the way you would if they weren't your tunnel, in the tunnel. If you get Dharok or Karil in the tunnel, you may need to drink an extra dose or two of prayer potion, causing a pricier trip, butyou should be fine. Run around the tunnel, avoiding the brother in the tunnel (Not Attacking him), until you find your puzzle door. Solve the puzzle and pull out your melee weapon. Kill the monsters in the room until your kill count is 11+. Now go through the door in which you solved the puzzle, and prepare for the fight as necessary. Once you are prepared, click on the chest and the brother should appear. Kill him using the method above, and click on the opened chest. Your reward will appear in your inventory, and teleport out. Recharge your prayer and repeat.

Rewards

You will notice that you get runes, bolt racks, and a little amount of money almost every run. BUT, some additions are barrows items, half of keys, and dragon med helm's. These items all sell for a lot, and you make most barrows profits off of these. It is said that the average amount of runs in which you get a barrows item is 1/13. If you do the math, at most, if using slayer dart, you spend 10,000 coins (Actually about 5.5k for me, but whatever). 10,000 X 13 = 130k. You spend 130k in 13 runs. If you got a barrows item every 13 runs, you would make a 70k profit ATLEAST (Torags Helm being the smallest priced item at 200k). Now, if you were to get a guthan's warspear in 13 runs, you would make over 5 million coins. So, in barrows, it is almost guarenteed you make profit.

Thanks mate! If you guys have any questions on barrows I would love to answer them.

You need to fix the hide stats drop down.

Good luck, but you need more goals. People barrows to make money,

not gain stats. Make a money goal and shoot for it, or a runs number goal.

Another thing, I would invest some time in training outside of barrows for a little while, making some cash, and buying full guthans.

With the right eqipment, you can spend 0-1k gp a run.

Good luck, and spend some time improving the blog so it does not die in the early stage like most do!
