Windows Media Player 11 Problems [SOLVED]

When I go to play a clip (avi) in windows media player 11, the audio works perfectly, however where the video should be is the visualization when you play music. I think it has to do something with a codec, but I'm not very computer literate and don't know how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Here. Use VideoLAN to play your .AVI files.

I've always used it when WMP doesn't want to play nice. Works very well.

Did you install VideoLAN/are you using it explicitly to watch .AVI?

Right click on the .AVI and select "Open With"..., then find VLC.

If you don't have the right codec installed then neither VLC or WMP will be able to play it. You will need to find out which codec your video file was generated with and install it.

The most likely option is Xvid.

VLC is self-contained and will play XviD/DivX encoded files without a codec. There's actually very few files that VLC can't play.

I'd recommend getting the K-Lite Codec Pack to see if WMP can play it after installation.
