My first sig.

Featured Replies

Hi, this is my first sig.

I've had the GIMP installed for some time but didn't understand how to use it.

I've read some tuts and I understand more now.

Please tell me if it's terribly bad, I would like to improve.

2 questions:

1. What is C4Ds? From what I found on the Internet it's big 3D-thingies, but aren't they too big for using?

2. What file format should I save in?

Not so good TBH, but don't worry, you'll get better.

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãââ Blend the render a bit more, make sure the colours from the render are in the rest of the sig. And make the edges of the render seem more smooth. (I can't really explain it better than this, sorry.)

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãââ Get rid of the white area, if you want a light source make one by clicking once with a white, large soft brush.

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãââ I kind of like what you did with the text, but I think the placement could be a bit better. Also, the font doesn't fit: it's an aggressive looking render, and you used a curly, peaceful font.

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãââ For nearly all sigs, add a border. Most of the time, a simple one pixel black one is better than a really complicated one.

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãââ Maybe make the background a bit more interesting? It shouldn't be incredibly busy and distracting, but ATM it's a bit simple.

To answer your questions:

1. You're right, they're big 3D renders. Yes, they are too big for using, but you can easily scale them down (Layer>Scale layer I believe).

2. For these kind of signatures, use either JPG or GIF to be able to use them as your signature. If you want to post the full quality version to show it to people, PNG is fine I think.

Hope I helped.

Good luck in the future, practise and read a lot of tutorials and I'm sure you will become a good sig maker. :)
