nope, impossilbe. you can only smelt ores to bars in the furnace.

Most people smelt mith bars, make them into plate bodys then alch them, as you make money do it while getting smithing and some magic exp.

 

 

 

But no you can't it only makes bars, else everyone would be there with 100k iron and 200k coal making steel bars and cannon balls.
