Stanford Prison Experiment

Warning: can be disturbing.

It happened over 30 years ago at stanford university. Altought it happened so long ago, I didin't hear about it until now.

Basically heres what happened. A spycholocist took some voluntary students and seperated them into two groups "prisoners" and "guards". They were basicly doing what real prisoners do and what real guards do.

Here's what I find to be very intresting about it: The experiment was supposed to be two weeks long, but the spycholocist had to end it after six days because the students got too deep in their roles. The guards started to show some sadistic behaviour and started oppressing their fellow students. The prisoners got depressed and some even got extreme stress reactions. Reminding you: they were all volunteers, normal students with no mental disorders, they were carefully tested, and knew they were videotaped all the time.

Isn't human mind strange? Discuss.. (check out the video if you want to know about it but don't have much time to get into it, 5 minutes long.)

Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.
