Password Protected File (Windows XP)

Featured Replies

How do I password protect a file, or make a folder that requires a password. Even learning to encrypt it might help? I've got text documents, programs, and such that I'd like to keep in my own file that only I have access to. Can anyone explain how I either password protect or encrypt it.

Thanks in advance

Try downloading a program called NetTools 5.

Just google it and you'll find it, Theres a few file/folder password protection tools in there

encryption is kinda annoying, but if you use a good password (AKA 15+ letters) its absolutely impossible to break into the drive. To do that, just download the program "truecrypt", its an open source encryption utility. Its pretty easy to use, just read the instructions within the program.

Third party programs, as suggested, are a good idea. Or if you're lazy like me you could just throw it in a zip file and it will allow you to add a password to that.
