Donahue65
Well I do not know about you, but I do not want to get hacked  , and it seems like everyone I know is getting hacked  Even though I think I am well-aware of what to do to keep safe from key-loggers and other types of viruses, I think it would be smart for jagex to change something about loggin in. I am not sure if this would work, but my idea was.. That Jagex sends everyone a certain seriers of numbers.. like 1-5-3-6-2 for example And when you recieve the email in your RuneScape Inbox, you write the number somewhere and hide it somewhere in your house or some type of safe spot. Also you delete the message afterwards... So when you log in to a server, after the enter password screen, another screen pops up. And on this screen will be a grid, and on the grid it will have numbers 1-10, or 1 through whatever... *note* these numbers are randomly placed on the grid everytime you log in, so there would not be anyway to see where one clicks from a previous log in. After you click the correct combination you will log on... Also if Jagex does something like this, it would need to have an option to have this or not, because some people unlike me, are not afraid of key-loggers and they would not want to be hasseled of this everytime they logged in.. So tell me what you think... Tweak...Flame...whatever...just an idea I had  Because we all know.. WE GOTTA STOP THE HACKERS! ---- I think this goes in Rant section, if not, Mr. ModdMan can you re-locate this thread to a more suitable section
ShadowSam19
That would be okay, except there would have to be a large range of numbers, and prob have letters too, since there are so many users, and only a certain number of combinmations. And because key-loggers only track what keys u type, then they wouldnt be able to see what u do with ur mouse, so that would end key logger hacks. U cna also use an onscreen keyboard that some comps come with if ur parinoid about keyloggers
Donahue65
I downloaded a top keylogger program called "Perfect Ley-Logger" Great program, I now know my Dad's credit card number  ok, but anyway the on-screen keyboard did not work... All it Does is... On screen key board= p a s s w o r d Reg. keyboard= password Also--- I bet hackers could figure out a clever way to track where ur mouse is located in the game window... Like something like a coordinate-plane or something?...like when the user clicks...it records the click, and coordinates are generated around the X and Y axis inside the game window, and it sends those coordinates to the hacker, which means he now knows your combination....yea if any of that makes sense...then I think the generate random numbers on the grid is a must. If none of that made sense, then I am sorry  But idf it did...awesome blossum
Artie_900
Also if Jagex does something like this, it would need to have an option to have this or not, because some people unlike me, are not afraid of key-loggers and they would not want to be hasseled of this everytime they logged in.. Well, as long as you let people turn it off, it's fine with me, I guess. It just seems like a monumental inconvenience when actually learning proper security precautions is so much easier and will benefit you far more in the long run than having Jagex watch over your shoulder. Really, if you don't run around handing out your password to any yahoo that can ask for it and downloading anything and everything, you have absolutely nothing to fear. Furthermore it certainly would be possible for a sufficiently advanced keylogger or a keylogger written specifically for this purpose to figure out which numbers you're using. All you'd have to do is match up the clicks to a screenshot.
Donahue65
well on screen shots, doesn't your mouse pointer hide? or is that something you can fix up so it does get pointer..?

Phil
Donahue, this idea has been suggested many times over the years, but has never been put in. U cna also use an onscreen keyboard that some comps come with if ur parinoid about keyloggers Most keyloggers will record which buttons are pressed on the on-screen keyboard. Also moved to the suggestions board :)

Also, I can't find my onscreen keyboard. Live and Learn.
Karvinen
Onscreen keyboard is useless unless you can't use your hardware keyboard for some reason (example: broken keyboard).
Donahue65
lol...keyloggers are not illegal using them on your own computer...it is a safety device for parents to know what kids are doing online, except in the case, I am using it for my own benefits. absolutly nothing wrong with that :? I still say jagex needs to do something like this 8)
Don
I know others shared this idea, but none the less I feel smart... 8)
