Is the speed of fishing (swordfish, for example) different if you are using a harpoon or doing it bare-handed? The requirement to do it bare-handed is higher, but does that mean it is harder to do, i.e. slower, than continuing to use a harpoon?

I don't think so, I've fished plenty in my time and haven't really noticed any *huge* difference, although some people report using a harpoon is minutely faster.

 

 

 

But the requirements are probably higher since you do it barehanded and you get strength exp as well from it.

They're the same speed, except that fishing with your hands gives you strength experience and disables whirlpool and big fish random events.
