Questions about search

In the past, if you searched for your forum name, it would bring up results where you were quoted in. It searched inside that code, but now it doesn't. This helped find people who addressed you personally that you might have missed if you didn't have the time to read every thread you replied to. Is there any way to change how the search works in that way?

 

 

 

Also, the search seems to only search through threads made after the reboot of TIF. It's not that important, but is there any reason it doesn't search old results too? There are a lot of old threads I'd like to search for but can't.

Fixing the search inside quotes shouldn't be too hard. I haven't read anything on phpbb group in regards to it but a slight change to stripping quote tags and then indexing the names would do the job. Don't hold your breath on that since I'm not 100% sure how easily that would be to do, or if there's a mod already in existance for it. As for the second half, not only is the search slightly different to the 2.0.x setup I'm also willing to bet the admins ditched whatever data was in the search-related tables at the time and free up some space.

 

 

 

So it's a bit of a lose-lose right now. Well, not really lose-lose but close enough.
