35-50k Exp an hour using fire wave. Depends on dedication and equipment. Hitting irons would probably be higher exp an hour as well because of less splashing.

Maging metals isn't the fastest mage xp, but it's pretty good in most other ways, since the drops help pay back the cost of runes, you get hp xp, and it's really easy to multitask. I personally have gone from 94 to nearly 98 magic by fire bolting with guants, and out of all the methods to train mage, its my favorite...though I'm still waiting on that visage drop

I didn't try before 95, but i did it from 95-99. I usually camped there for 3-5 hours at a time, unless i got a clue and got very bored. It took me probably a good 1-3 weeks ( sry don't remember/kept track ) from 95-99, so gotta find something to do, since all it is attack one, pick up drops, attack another, and wait, and pot when needed. Ya, what sirscrap said b4 me, it isn't best of xp, but it pays for most of supplies, get a chance for 25m, and gives prayer xp, which he/she didn't mention,i got from 52-63 roughly just camping there, and i'm also still waiting a visage drop  need more help, just post on my guide, in my siggy.

Yeah its not the fastest but most enjoyable mage training by far IMO. I love it metals. Be sure to take alch runes. And if you want to make some extra coin bring a BOB and load up on as many bones as you can if you'd like.

Maging metal dragons is a huge cash loss. Hi alch is better and way more reliable than hoping you get a visage or anything else good.

Slayer Drops

Dragon Chainbody (dust devil), Dragon Platelegs x2, Dragon Plateskirt x3, Dragon Boots x38, Dragon Med Helm x5, Dragon Spear x3, Shield Left Half x4

Staff of Light x2, Abyssal Whip x16, Dark Bow x17, Granite Maul x17, Focus Sight, Hexcrest x2, Black Mask x4, Leaf-bladed Sword, Mystic x31, Obsidian x13, Brine Sabre x2, Spirit Shield, Dragonstone x5

I would say bolt, since its alot cheaper and still hits high with the gaunts, but if you have the money and want to save time, wave would be fine. As for doses, its roughly 3 for every 250 fire bolts for me, but I'm sure someone else can give you something more accurate.

And really, its not a huge cash loss, since compared to alching you're getting charms, hp xp, prayer xp, cash from alchs, blood/soul runes, clues (I average one per trip), and loads of time to relax, instead of constant clicking.

ShadowSam19.png

Miner, how much of a loss are you taking per hour alching? I'd say probably around 150k, so you lose about the same amount fire waving metals, plus you get hp xp and a shot at a visage.

Said by the person who shouldn't be maging at metals anyway. I suggest Maging with Firewave at 80+ magic with ahrims and good gear all around.

Also if i where to really keep track of all my drops I've probably come close to profiting while doing metals. Or least its not as bad as a loss as you claim. Getting a visage, 8 skirts, and 5+ legs + 200/300k alchs a trip and a few million I've made off of junk and enough charms for my 73 charms.

Its not that bad at all...
