Iamanarab
Time to admit the truth, my old computer, and i do mean old is trying to run XP on 1.6Ghz Processor and 256mB of RAM :( So, ideally, i'd like to build a new computer that's adequate for under, say, 1200 NZD. Willing to spend a little bit more to accomodate a little petty extra The main site here for parts is www.pricespy.co.nz GFX is not such a high priority, Thanks in Advance, Arab Iamanarab - 119/110 Combat - 1700+ Total - P2P for the momentDrops: [3] Dragon Legs [2] Shield Left Half [1] Draconic Visage
Bac_Talan
You can build a pretty good computer for $1200 NZD. Here's what I'd get: GeForce 8800 GT 512MB: $229 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_532.html?d=11782) Asus P5K-VM Intel G33 mATX: $150 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_463.html?d=12455) Core 2 Duo E8200: $230 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_532.html?d=12139) 4GB DDR2: $115 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_463.html?d=8588) 500GB SATA HDD: $105 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_96.html?d=9777) Windows Vista Home Premium OEM: $130 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_611.html?d=10008) (Make sure you get 64-bit so your OS sees all 4GB of RAM, or use 3GB of RAM) 500-watt Power Supply: $46 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_463.html?d=2021) Case: $42 (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/c_10.html?d=12232) All comes to just under $1050 (Plus whatever tax you have in NZ). And that's considerably more than adequate.. That would do for an extreme gaming computer. My custom-built rig with almost exactly the same specs as that flies through anything I throw at it, even Crysis on Very High. It'll probably be future-proof for several years at least. If you want, you can even up the memory to 8GB (MAKE SURE you get 64-bit Vista if you do that though). The motherboard there will accommodate an extra 2 sticks of memory if you want. I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.Pics or it didn't happen. I hate my generation.
Iamanarab
Does that motherboard support up to 8GB of RAM? Because if it does, and 4gb onmly costs 119, it'd be worth whacking another set in, seeing as the tax in NZ is already added onto that price, so it'd still be under 1200 Iamanarab - 119/110 Combat - 1700+ Total - P2P for the momentDrops: [3] Dragon Legs [2] Shield Left Half [1] Draconic Visage
konzserwas
You'll get very little, if any, difference between 4GB and 8GB The PSU Bac_Talan suggested sucks. get at least 2X more expensive unlesss you want to have poor performance, high tempetatures and huge chances of your PSU frying itself, and maybe your other components. I suggest getting corsair or thermaltake (there are more good brands, but i don't recall any) A lot of people don't realiase that, but the PSU is the most important part of your computer
