You need all the pieces, top bottom gloves and helm.

The Mace is NOT required for the mage set..

 

 

 

But the Bonus' for each set are as follows:

 

 

 

Mage gives a 30% Attack and Damage bonus,

 

Range gives a 10% Attack and Damage bonus,

 

Melee gives a 10% Attack and Damage bonus.

 

 

 

All sets require top, bottom, gloves, and a helmet.

 

 

 

The helmets are the only deciding factor as to which set you are actually wearing.
