I'm pretty sure you can download a patch somewhere(not an official one) but i don't have a link. Try google.

Yeah, like he said, there's probably a patch or program for XP that will allow you to play it without Vista. Other than that, I doubt it.

It depends. If there's a patch that lets you port it to XP, then there should be online multiplayer because the Vista version supports it.
