But what's the point of this letter, any sound it makes can be replaced with another letter, if anything the "CH" sound should just be replaced with "C".

I was thinking whats wrong with the letter "k". "C" is closer to the front and they both sound the same.

Mhm that works too, just do away with one or the other. C just has more than one sound which can be substituted by other letters.

Thread failure. Letters, and letter combinations, exist for pronounciation. kh and ch will never be spoken the same.

 

And since we're on this issue... the vowels of the alphabet are pronounced differently depending on their position in a word.
