I am just getting 65 slayer and am wondering what point in desert treasure I have 2 get 2 to get into the dungeon......

None. I went in there before I had even made the mirrors to figure out you even had to go in there during the quests. But even if you can't get into the smoke well, you can still fight Dust Devils in the Chaos Tunnels.
