August 10, 200817 yr Ok so I've got my rockband microphone hooked up to the PC at the moment for recording some stuff in audacity because its better quality than my desktop mic, but, the problem is I can record sounds, myself, whatever but in silent breaks or in the background you can hear faint beeping noises. My TV is off, my phone is off but i dont know what could be causing this beeping, I would be happy to provide a .wav file so you can listen, I just need somewhere to upload it. August 11, 200817 yr Tracing noise like this can be a right pain, you need to try a few things. 1. Unplug the mic does it still happen? 2. Select another input source such as line in, does it still happen? 3. Make sure all other input volumes are set to zero. Sometimes the mic cable itself or even the microphone can pick up noise due to bad earthing, check the connections to make sure all is well. Usually though bad earthing picks up mains hum (50hz or 60hz depending on what country you're in). You could always Audacity's noise function to filter this out. [Assist-X]
