August 16, 200817 yr I had a computer which I used for 4 years, a few days ago its motherboard was fried. My issue is i bought a new laptop and all my old music, documents, files, pics etc. are on the old hard drive, how can i get it off and onto my new laptop. My old pc was a desktop, my new pc is a laptop. I have taken out the hard drive and heres some info on it, if its of any use. Seagate:- Barracuda 7200.7 160 gytes. My old os was xp and me new one is vista, both pcs were purchased from dell. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.
August 16, 200817 yr Could plug it into another computer and do a network transfer although i don't know if you have another computer thats not a laptop to use though.

August 17, 200817 yr You could get something like this which will take a sata drive. Which i googled your hard drive and it is sata or atleast that is what google said.
August 17, 200817 yr It is sata, so, i could connect the cooling device to my laptop? Yes you could connect the device above to your laptop. You will first put your sata in that cast plug it in and what not, just follow the manual it should be straight forward. The plug the usb into your usb port on your laptop and it should show u as like another hard drive. You could even use this one if you wanted to. Just the one above has a nice little fan in it. Just make sure you get one with a use and one that is sata capable. You can browse all of them on newegg here.
