Recently, JaGeX released the update for Clan Wars which added multiple new features, including Dangerous Clan Wars and new Free-For-All Safe & Dangerous arenas. This suggestion is directed towards the Dangerous Free-For-All Arena battles and Dangerous Clan Wars. Currently, when you kill someone, they drop all of their items and it is protected by a gravestone. As a result, the winner of the fight earns no reward for their effort (and have wastefully spent their food and pots). As an added incentive, the Dangerous Free-For-All arena and Dangerous Clan Wars should have these new features implemented. A Points system for Kills -When a player kills another player, the winner will earn a certain number of POINTS. They can ONLY be earned in Dangerous Arenas (FFA & Clan Wars) -These points are NOT an item like F.O.G tokens. They act as an "invisible currency" that is un-tradable and is therefore, unique to a player. (The reason for this is if a player makes a kill but their inventory is full, then they would have to eat/drink one of their food/potion in order to gain the tokens, which is kind of unfair) -The number of points earned is a result of: -The level of the player who is killed in comparison to the winner. (higher the level in comparison, the more points earned) -Whether the kill was made in a Single CB zone or a Multi CB zone. (Multi CB zone results in more points due to the extra risk) (Only applicable to FFA) -The Sum Total of the Combat levels in your clan in comparison to your opposing clan. (If the combat level SUM TOTAL of your clan is Lower than the combat level SUM TOTAL of the clan you are fighting, then You shall receive more points for YOUR kills. And visa verse.) (Only applicable to Clan Wars) These points will then be used to... Purchase Rewards -Armour, Weapons, Projectiles, Runes, Healing bandages, Potions and Skill enhancing equipment can be bought from a Clan Wars shop. (similar to F.O.G) -Like in F.O.G, some equipment will degrade over time and will have to be repaired by spending points. But since the points can only be earned in a Dangerous zone, the rate at which the equipment shall degrade will be decreased in comparison to F.O.G items. -Armour, weapons and skill enhancing tools that are degradable shall be non-tradable unless they are fully degraded. Projectiles, Runes, healing bandages, potions and non-degrading equipment shall always be NON-TRADABLE. (To prevent RTW) Changes to Death Currently, when you die, you lose your items and they are protected by your gravestone. Since the gravestone could facilitate running back quickly and retrieving all of your items, perhaps this could be in effect in order to make things a bit more dangerous: -Only Three Quarters of the food remaining in your inventory is protected by the gravestone. -Only Half of the number of Potion Doses in your inventory is protected by the gravestone. (Eg: If 1 Full vial of Strength Potion (4 Doses) is dropped at death, only Half of the vial (2 Doses) shall be retrievable upon gravestone pickup.) -3 of the Cheapest pieces of armor/weapons that are worn/wielded at the time of death are irretrievably lost. (Projectiles excluded) If the player is wearing no armor or weapons but has armor/weapons in their inventory, then the 3 cheapest among those shall be lost forever. -Everything else shall be protected by the gravestone, with the potential of permanent loss. (As Usual) This should make things more dangerous. This might be too severe but something along these lines can still be applied to still create some loss for the players who run quickly to their graves to retrieve their items. It is not technically possible for us to make a fair reward system which would work reliably enough to be worth having. Clan Wars is solely aimed at clan-vs-clan competition where victory is considered to be its own reward. Please remember that more PvP updates are in development, catering for PVP-for-profit PKers. For more information on our future PvP updates, please refer to this article on our website. Following suggestions from clan members around the forums, we're looking into adding the ability to loot limited amounts of food, potions, etc. when you kill someone. The rewards system and point system in Dangerous FFA acts as an incentive to risk your stuff because right now, they is really next to no incentive to go into the Dangerous arena because the winner doesn't earn any reward and ends up wasting food and pots to simple survive a pointless fight. So my idea isn't as obsolete as you might think! : My point that it was obsolete is not that it's a bad idea, and it isn't. It's the fact that Jagex has confirmed, this was on the "this week's FAQ" thread for last week's clan wars update, that there will never be rewards for Clan Wars like there is for Bounty Hunter or Fist of Guthix or the PVp worlds. The Dangerous option is there should anybody ever want to use it. That's it. Adding rewards turns them into a minigame, which defeats the object.
