Peterblue
What is the best way to get my smithing up in f2p? I was thinking along the lines of either iron plate bodies, or steel plate bodies. Is there anything else? I have 62 smithing, and 1.6 mill. I can scrounge up a bit more money. I am looking to get 70 smithing, although I don't think this much money will be enough. Thanks for reading. Click here to learn the best profit from MTK. TheHunted616
If you don't care about losing money, buy tons of steel bars and make steel plates, and then high alc them. You'll gain some profit, and a few smithing levels.
ilovecardj
super heat mith bars (30k smithing an hour, 53k maging) costs cheap something like 3gp per smithing exp or so, so i think its also in budget, and a nice big maging boost is nice Dragon Drops: 80+ boots, 7 med, 3 skirt, 2 left half, 2 Spear, 2 2hSlayer: 30+ whips, 4 Bows, 1 Mask, 3 Granite Legs, 1 Visage (Wyverns)Notable GWD Splits: Bandos Tassets: 12, Bandos Chest: 11, Bandos Hilt: 2Proud Slayer of 99 Att/Str/Def/HP/Range/Summoning
Peterblue
I was just wondering, would it be better to go with iron or steel? How much slower is iron? Click here to learn the best profit from MTK.
Sinkhan
If you're smelting yourself, quite a bit slower seeing as you'll fail 50% of the time, not to mention that each bar itself will give less XP. Steel plates are one of the top methods, but depending on what you buy or collect yourself will determine how much you gain/lose. I haven't tried mith bars, but it sounds viable. Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Peterblue
If you're smelting yourself Well, actually, no, I was planning on smelting the ore. :P My plans were to smith one of the types of bars. I have tried smelting and super heating but neither of those are very good exp. I was thinking of maybe super heating iron bars. There is a 100% chance of success and I will be losing around 18 or so gp per bar(rather than buying off the GE). I will write down my thoughts and maths here(to organize them). Possibilities: Superheating and Smelting Iron Bars - Costs around 242 a bar(nature rune) - 73.6(1/5 of plate body) = 168.4 a bar. Pretty slow. This will provide 37.5 exp per bar, and cost 4.49 gp per xp. The only problem with this is that it is slow. Smithing Steel Plates from GE - Costs around 627 a bar - 240(1/5 plate body) = 387 a bar. This will provide 37.5 xp per bar and cost 10.3 gp per xp. This is quite a bit faster, though. Really these are the only two options I see. I will manage to get to level 66(507,742 xp) with the steel plates and level 69(708,750 xp) with the iron bars. However, I need to balance the time with the addy ore I could be mining at the time. So, the real question here is which is better? For mining addy I can make maybe 50k an hour if I get lucky, probably around 30k average. I personally believe that the smithing iron would be much better, but what does everyone else think? Click here to learn the best profit from MTK. Slow but no loss in cash. 26,974th person to get 85 mining on September 20th, 2008Try Ferion, it only takes a few minutes per day; you can play it while mining. Guest
Steel bars --> steel plates: money losing ( a lot) Iron bars --> Iron plates: better than steel Also making mith bars is a good way :)
