Bad Connection

I have bad internett connection. I am using wireless, and there is 4 other computers connected.

 

 

 

Now thing is: my computer gets the side effect of the internet use. But all of the 3 other computers connection work decently better than mine.

 

 

 

Cause of it: when they put on a video (youtube) or watch a movie online: my connection gets being wrecked. I disconnect from runescape tons of times, and there is time internet don't work.

 

 

 

Also lately i have been getting this:

 

 

 

When my conn is bad and i disconnect on rs: i get the "Please wait- attempting to reconnect" , but it does not work and it freezes and then it takes very long time and it goes back to rs log in mainpage.

 

 

 

I don't get that :as that has never happend.

 

 

 

Any help on any of the issues please?

First issue: Odd as it may seem, wireless network adapters seem to have a 'pecking order', possibly having to do with how old they are\what enhancements they have. When I use a public internet connection, IE library\coffeehouse connection to download a file, I get fast speeds yet I can still browse web pages\watch videos without a problem, while my friends computer, right next to mine, struggles to load a basic web page. You could try using your router to establish a quality of service reservation for your computer\runescape, but I haven't found an easily solution to this problem :|

 

 

 

The disconnection\freezing also happens to me when I use dial up, and is INCREDIBLY annoying. First you DC, then the loading screen comes up, then the whole thing freezes. You can right click anywhere on the screen and get the 'cancel' submenu, but that too freezes until you reload the web page. It started with an update a week or two ago, and I can't find anything to combat it besides a better connection. I hope they fix it, it never did that before.

 

 

 

In short, I have no solutions, but I do have the same problems. At least I've finally decided to upgrade to Comcast's 1 Up\4 Down deal, and reserve 50% of network bandwidth for my lappy, so that should solve it. Good riddance.

One thing you might be able to do is reserve 15% or so of network bandwidth for your lappy - this would mean you always have a small amount available for RS. This would, obviously, slow down the other computers on your network slightly, but it would probably be worth it. I can't give specific instructions, but you should be able to do something like that with your router's configuration. That failing, you could use a network management tool to do it - or try and download an open source version of your router's firmware that would have extra features allowing you to do it. What is the exact name and model of your wireless router?

I think the model is D-link, and the name is DIR-655? But i am not to sure.

 

 

 

This time only 2 computers were on and the two remaining, had no videos or download applications on. So the connection should have gone smoothly for me, but no...i disconnected quite alot.

 

 

 

Then when i did that, i got the "Frozen Disconnection" and had to reload page again. I am wondering, if it's my connection or Jagex's problem that this happens.

 

 

 

 

And compfreak i don't have a clue how to reserve 15% to my computer, and it's not a laptop. It's Acer Aspire L5100.

 

 

 

Other info: I recently downloaded pirate copy of windows xp cause i did not want Wista (Yes it was bad choice, but i don't like Wista). I also didn't know how i could get XP without using a Pirate copy.

 

 

 

Cause of this, i can not access updates cause of the Geniuine Windows License icon : the blue star.

 

 

 

I also had problem with setting up correct setup for internet connection when i got XP installed. But luckily i got that fixed.

 

 

 

But now recently i have disconnected and lagged like hell.

 

 

 

The router is new, our ISP is not the best but it's not worst and on top of it: i have had bad connection when only my computer has been on!

 

 

 

I am really not the guy who remembers names or knows names of things: so if your gonna guide me or something please try to be detailed :D

Possibly, but a lot depends on his OS. If it's a pirated version, your not receiving updates, and an old un-updated version of XP can have problems with wireless networking. Besides, your running a huge security risk. I would just pay for XP - or else try reinstalling vista and see if it solves your problem. I'll have more on this later; I have to go now.

I had Vista Prem, but now i need to find out where i put the pack of the computer :?

 

 

 

Also with Wista prem, and good ram i had problems with Firefox.

Try it again, using a tool like vLite to strip out unneeded stuff. I got my complete Vista install to under 2 GB, with everything running how I wanted it. Use IE to play Rune, though - I have problems with RS and FF too.

Didn't mean it like that. When i had virus before, and i brought IE up and got to homepage: the viruses easily took over the browser. And mislead me to more spam.

 

 

 

That did not happend when i used FF :D

Only because the malware was programed to change IEs homepage instead of Firefox's - get a decent anti malware program, and no worries.
