kingjoe2002
Hi i decided to buy a new video card for the workstation i have. Right now it is running a Quadro4 900XGL. Im thinking of upgrading it to an ATI 9800XT or 9800Pro. Now is the XT worth the extra buck over Pro? I mainly just play C&C Generals and do light graphics work. Also would the system bring out the cards potential? Specs Dual 2.8ghz Xeon 512k 1gig PC800 Rambus 2 120gb Maxtor in RAID 0 config Im also considering upgrading another workstation i have at: Dual 2.2ghz Xeon 512k 1gig PC800 Rambus 2 18gig SCSI. The 9800Pro is pretty cheap on ebay at around 80 bucks so i wonder for C&C Generals if the performance difference will be big.
battletrax
Well, generals isn't a very gfx intense game so I think both cards might be a bit of overkill... I'm not sure how your gfx programs will respond switching from a 3d rendering card to a gaming card...
Octavarium
I say go for one of the X600's if you absolutely HAVE to get an ATI over nvidia. It will last you longer.
devilheart14
by the sounds of things ure not really gonna be strainning ure card to much so its all up to you wether ure gonna want it to last a lil bit longer and be able to expand into more demanding things and pay a bit more. or if your just gonna be doin light work stuff its not really worth it.
