Getting smithing up when crafting...

Featured Replies

Okay, this has been bugging me for quite a while.

My friend started a character, and decided that he liked the sound of crafting as a profession. Not one to hinder, I explained about clay, leather and the progression onto gold and silver.

He worked on his character for a few days, then told me that he had mining level 20, and was going to make some silver, and work on holy amulets. However, he didn't realise he needed a smithing level of 20 just to smelt the silver bars.

What I would like to see, is either something that can be crafted out of bronze. Or even a way to make a brass necklace, so that budding crafters have a good reason to work on their smithing level, because it isn't obvious until they reach level 20 mining, and then realise they need to do a whole lot of work that they can't use the end product, except to sell.

I know that this will only apply to the "noobs" as some of you put it, but I still think it would be a good way to get more people into crafting early on, as it is a good trade to practise.

Comments welcome.

Time issues really, nothing against the game itself. Something had to go, and it happened to be the addictive game that costs money to enjoy :)

Best of luck to all of my friends here!

Fine by me. I think being able to craft brass necklaces is perfectly good for low-xp.

Yeah that'd be fine, something for new people to be excited about :D

Hmm, interesting one is this, another Yay and Nay topic.

Yes, it would be nice to have something lower down to use, but on the other hand, getting lvl 20 is NOT hard at all, it is only around 5.5k xp after all, and, silver and gold are only small parts of crafting, I personally just do lots of leather, even though silver does make a small profit before you start working on dragon hide and drag rings.

Oh and for your friend, tell them to do a Knights Sword quest. You go up to like 30 smithing :)

Haha, I would, but he is one of those "I only need a lvl 3 character" people... :). Even with my help, an Ice Warrior would just have to look at him to kill him ;)

that would be nice, great idea but think of more to go with it make some pictures and get in depth with your idea. More information you got the more supporters you'll get.
