It can be. What are you planning to do? And do you have a video card that will feed the image from the computer to the TV? :-s

For presentations as well as some games, using a TV can work well but as a primary monitor it is generally a bad idea. The resolutions of TVs are just too low to use as a practical monitor - even a TV in 1080P only has the resolution of about a 22 inch monitor.
