ElkNight
What is the difference between performance in 32 bit windows xp and 64 bit winows vista? Will the vista be a lot better? And if I got Vista how would it change between home basics and home permium? If this helps at all my computer will have 4 gigs of ram, 500 gb hard drive, Intel Core2duo @ 3.16ghz processor, and a Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 Video card. 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers! Nadril
You'll find better performance in Vista 64 bit due to it being able to recognize all 4GB (instead of 3.5GB like XP 32) and Vista generaly handling ram better.
das1330
Aside from the obvious differences between vista and XP, the primary difference between 32 and 64 bit OS's is the amount of memory they can handle - with a 32 bit OS, it can only address about 4 GB of memory meaning that in your setup not all of the memory in your computer would be usable. A 64 bit setup on the other hand can address a massive amount of memory. For a new computer, you should go with vista home premium X64 edition, hands down.
