Seriously there are hundreds of public servers with <10 / 500 etc people in them. Normally you can ask a mod of the server and you will be able to get your own password protected channel. When I try to update, I get error FFFFFFFE. I was trying to research it, and I found that it could be caused by male ware or something. I use malewarebytes and have never found anything with it Im on vista 64 bit. Here is a hijackthis log. I also ran it though the Hijackthis checker and these were the main "problems."
