Now we are deleting topics here too instead of locking them?

Why not leave it as an example of wrongdoing? I am referring to spun's post. I would take it up with the mod in question...but when you DELETE a post there IS no mod designated to take it up with.

Why for tttia? if someone's going to be a.. backside, an example of wrongdoing won't stop them, and if someone's going to be rude, well, why give them an example, it's a good way to root out the bad fruit from the good, if you get my drift, best to get rid of them first, then after the damage (or more damage) is done.

although if the copyright issue isn't already up on the rules i think it should be added.

For one thing I take some satisfaction in seeing the rippers receive warnings or being banned on the thread that they were offending on.

Otherwise we always wonder if anything happens to them. And I do think that seeing someone banned has an effect on people. They are less likely to do it if they value their account. If they don't, then there is little that could detur them, you are right in that regard

For another, there is a certain effect within a community that occurs when people examine the decisions of their mods and see that they are doing a good job. I for one think it is a great thing to do SOMETHING about rippers. Often times in the distant past nothing was done. But there is responsibility that comes from being a mod, and part of that is public scrutiny. One reason posts are locked in a lot of forums, rather than deleted, is so no one can accuse the mods of bias etc.

I don't question the mod's decision to discipline. It was a good one. Just wondering if this is the new practice.

And I will say little more on this...don't mean to start a war over this. I sometimes say too much in such things.

Also I was going to note that the same ppl whining about him ripping had images of spider man and main stream anime in their own sigs...blatant ripping. We should enforce the policy in ALL cases.

I don't see how you could - where your coming from is justified :P

Mayhaps if they were to create a sticky, and another board, where all 'junk' posts went to, and the sticky warns of it and links of recent 'junk posts' to their location in the 'Junk/Locked posts' thread?

anyway, i bid you all good night, im going out tomorrow and its 2 in the mornin'. \:

Don't get me wrong, I know there are times where the content is just so vile that it must be deleted. . In such times simply editing the content itself completely out and leaving a nice little mod pronouncment always reminds me that the same could happen if I post such things.

Junk post...maybe...or better yet, a hall of shame. Bout time we recognized our banned ppl for the what they really are. A little post with an explanation of their crime if it is something that can be said without further harm.

For those who remember the whole scammers list this was somewhat like that...but this would be by the mods, which would be better in the end.
